Current Focus and Activities

 

 

1.    Equity in Schools Resources / Expenses / Legislation / Rules

 

a.    Equity in K12 Foundation / ISD Sec. 81 / Categoricals

b.    Protect Personal Property tax earmark revenues and local-specific revenue

i.e.: wind turbines, power plant turbines, and others

c.    Convey to legislators and others equity burden of all legislation, rules, and procedures

d.    Multiple Caucus analyses, evaluations, and reports

 

 

2.    School Infrastructure Funding

 

a.    Expand Sinking Fund allowable use

b.    Promote state school infrastructure funding

c.    Multiple Caucus analyses, evaluations, and reports

 

 

3.    MPSERS Reforms

 

a.    Acknowledge necessity of MPSERS reforms

b.    Protect pension and health care of retirees

c.    Accept minor, fair changes to current employees, particularly those in 3rd trimester

d.    Shape fair changes for those in 1st or 2nd trimester

e.  Reduce or cap districts' MPSERS contribution rate

 

 

4.    School Loan Revolving Fund

 

a.    Acknowledge necessity of SLRF reforms

b.    Protect access for lowest funded districts

a.    Hypothesis: There exists a measurable correlation between school funding and student achievement
